For those that are interested, PicNPoke now has an Address Mode
Tutor.

This is an animated tutorial to help beginners learn about addressing
RAM and ROM in the PIC chips, specifically the 16F84.

It covers the INDF, FSR, PCLATH, PCL and STATUS registers.

You can run a Quick See mode where the computer does the tutorial,
or you can manually enter values into the registers and run the
animation to see how the changes affect addressing.

Registered users, get your upgrades from Dontronics free.

After a brief illness, (read that Bored while recuperating), I
created another addition to PicNPoke, called PicNPort.

For those that are interested...

It is a tutorial about the I/O Ports on the F84. It covers things
like, latches, using the port, addressing, Read, Write, Modify,
Floating inputs, Schmitt input, Interrupts, and Pullups etc..

All up there are 17 animated  learning modules, some of them
interactive, which run for more than 65 minutes.

Regards

Tony.

PS, I had just under 2000 PICLIST Emails when I opened my mail box.
Whew!!

Well those two weeks went fast, PicNQuiz is now available with
PicNPoke. It has hundreds of questions to ask about the 16F84 and
presents them randomly in blocks of 20 with a score available at the
end. You would probably have a sore b*m by the end of them all.

My missus was also king enough to do some voice overs to brighten
things up a bit. My voice sounds like the one that tells the time on
the phone:-)

Tony

Hi all,

Just announcing that PicNPoke has got another learning module called
PicNPrac.

It is another animated tutorial that covers subjects like Interrupts,
Sleep, TMR0, Reset, Instruction Timing, EEPROM, and the WDT.

User interaction is available in most of the subjects, and all up the
tutorial runs for nearly 2 1/2 hours.

PicNPoke as a whole has also been revamped a bit. Soon all the software
will be available for download at any time, but will only function in
demo mode, until a 'key' is purchased to unlock it. I hope that will
make things a little less confusing.

It will be available ASAP.

The missus is getting tired of seeing the Greys growing out of the back
of my head, so I don't know how much more I can put in. 8-)

Regards

Tony

Hi all,

I hope everyone enjoyed or is still enjoying the holiday season.

PicNPoke now has it's own WIN 95 serial driven DIY programmer and Real
World Port Interface included with the software.

The Real World Interface mates with the PicNPoke and PicNPlay simulators
and allows the beginner to watch code execute on screen while the
interface allows real connections to, and simulates, both PortA and
PortB of a 16F84. Interrupts, Pullups etc are all supported.
The PCB and Schematic designs, plus all details on how to build it are
supplied in PDF format. Source code for the PIC is also supplied. The
PCB has also been designed to let you program the project PIC without
needing a separate programmer.

My thanks to Jim Robertson at Newfound who helped with some of the
programmer problems.

See my web site for more details.

Yer, I told him how to make it really crappy so it doesn't compete with
my designs  :-)
