Hi list,

I am just a newbie in the world of micro-controller. I have selected PIC
Microchip bcoz it is cheap, easily available and provides enough features for
hobbyist.

Is there any easy Linux based Hi-level programming language for PIC, so that I
can learn and programme the chip easily ?

I like to bypass the assembly language bcoz it needs long time to learn the
language itself. So I prefer BASIC like language for PIC (if there is any).

please show me the way. thanks for your time.

You could take a look at JAL,
 www.wattystuff.net/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=PIC+Micro
very simple, ...
... but unfortunately we don't have a good IDE for Linux ,
... but I guess Linus users don't really need an IDE ;-)

Hi,

Never tried out by myself, but PikLab promises an IDE for several HLLs like
JAL, supports some programmers as well under Linux:
http://piklab.sourceforge.net/
(You will find info and link to other languages as well as to JAL there)

This IDE is very nice, has its own language which is claimed C/Basic style,
not sure what it means:

There are indeed 3 different pic basic compilers that are excellent.  Picbasic pro from MELabs, Proton , and Mikrobasic.  Hard to choose from them.  They all have their strong points.

What do you consider an "easy" language?  There are several C and
Basic compilers that have freeware versions for at least projects
of limited size.  There are also JAL and XPL0, which are Pascal-like,
as well as a real pascal compiler.  See
