'[EE]:Programming Scenix chips'

I am almost ready to play with the Scenix IRDA implementation.
I have the SX28 chips in hand, but I don't yet have a programmer.
What's the best option for basic function? (stuffing hex in the box)

Only one I've used is the Parallax product. When they first came out, I
thought they were the greatest thing since sliced bread. However, the
more I used it, the more I got frustrated. The source is closed, and not
well implemented. The IDE has a large number of shortcomings ... standard
Windows keystrokes being one of them (hey, it _IS_ supposed to be a
Windows product). Unfortunately, they've never done much to improve the
code base.
I've sorta gotten out of the SX stuff for now, but when I get started
again, I'll probably consider other products.

Actually Parallax has released the source code. It's on their web
site. I haven't yet heard of anyone publishing improvements, though.
