A recent discussion has prompted questions of the existence of an interpreter for the PIC micros. Over the last two years I have been using FED BASIC chips from Forest Electronic Developments with good success. These are on a par with Parallax PIC BASIC devices, although some what cheaper and the development environment is free... Further information can be picked up from the following site, http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/town/street/fs34/FED/index.htm For serious work I use the PIC BASIC Pro compiler which I have found to be a quick and relatively pain free development language. On occasion I have also used the CCS PCW compiler, but my C is rusty at the best of times... In closing, if you want a fast development platform with the minimum of hassles I have no qualms in recommending FED BASIC chips, they're no speed demons but best suited for control applications... AFAIK the development environment for the Stamp is also free. Or you can buy it in a package, nicely printed and ready-to-go.
