Just an ide‡ that I got sitting here.....

Why haven«t any one made a PCMCIA Programmer Yet?

Is this possible?

Would be a great thing when traveling around.... and still play around
with the PIC....

... but most laptops have serial & parallel ports, and I don't know of
a pic programmer that doesn't use one of these two ports!

I designed a PCMCIA card interface for picmaster a while ago - RF
Solutions (http://www.rfsolutions.co.uk) might have one or two left.

Some laptops don't have parallel OR serial ports (witness a PC110
without the port replicator <G>  My older 486 laptops have 8250 UARTs
for built-in serial ports <ack>.  And those tend to break their parallel
ports, too often.

You can buy a serial port PCMCIA card for $60ish (perhaps less if
lucky on auctions, think I paid $30 for my pair), usually, or a parallel
port PCMCIA card (usually about $120 plus.  No luck yet there.)

How about IrDA, while we're at it?  (Only half joking, many laptops
have that capability - and no connector wear if you used this method,
which would be a plus...  Could build a Palm Pilot assembler, maybe,
under Palm Linux.)
