'OT: Remote Control'

Hi all,
I'm wondering if someone with remote control experience can help me.
I've seen quite a bit of traffic here on the subject.
I need to remote control a 'real' car using a similar setup to a model
one.
It only needs two controls, accelerate to a pre set speed and stop.
The braking system is air operated by a 4-20mA solenoid on board the
vehicle and acceleration I presume will be by a servo on the accelerator
linkage.
If anyone has any ideas on what type of RC eqipment I need can they
please email me privately?

I'm interested in this subject too. Can you keep this thread on the list?
(or mail me too).
Thanks.

Use servos with high torque.

Try contacting fred
KILLspamfmadirect.com (http://www.fmadirect.com). They've done
some support of RPV's for the military, and would be a good first choice as
a vendor as well. And mention who told you about them while you're at it,
please.
Thanks.

Also Condor R/C has been showing some giant (metal case) heavy
duty servos (one with a linear output shaft) at Toledo.

Along the same lines: In my MCM (and other) catalogs there are electrical
automotive door lock actuators which seem to give a travel of about 1 inch
with respectable force for $6 each. Has anyone investigated these for
servo purposes ?

Sorry, I have the dead tree version. No cookies, just a coffee spot ;)
The item that arose my interest was Order# 60-6955 'High Powered Door
Lock Actuator' at $5.39 ea. in case it helps. (This is for automotive use
as I've said before - i.e. 12 V motor driven geared bar with linear motion
if I read the catalog photo right - should contain a slip clutch to
spare the fuses <g>).
