Hi,

We have used MPLAB-C for one project and discovered also a lot of
bugs and reported them to Microchip but we never had an answer.

Microchip , Yahooo!!!, Hellooooo!!!

We decided to try an other c-compiler instead of Microchips
c-compiler.

And we have chosen for the CCS C-compiler, which has lot more
functions and capabalities than the microchip c-compiler.
But also here we have found some bugs, but we have the experience
with CCS that they fixes the bugs very fast, and most of the time
you can download an new compiler version from there website, one or
two days later.

Vishram,

The CCS compiler is actually three products, none of which is shareware/etc.

The 12-bit core "PCB" compiler for DOS is US$99.
The 14-bit core "PCM" compiler for DOS is US$99.
The combination, with a start-up code generator, for Windows (it includes
both PCB and PCM) is US$350.

I own this product, and have been relatively happy with it.

The bugs are fixed rather frequently (usually 2-4 editions released per
week) but they are also frequently introducing new bugs.

My biggest complaints (2) are that they :
  a) have so many bugs in a "released" product for the price, and
  b) frequently change the specification for their product without
documenting it.

It is a good product, but in my opinion it isn't worth the price.  I feel
like a beta tester for them.

You can contact them at "EraseMEccsspam_OUTspamTakeThisOuTexecpc.com"

For what it's worth, Parallax (http://www.parallaxinc.com) will be carrying
it soon as a catalog item.
