I am pretty sure that this is an utterly silly question but it is just
stumping me: I am trying to get MPASMWIN to assemble the mul8x8.asm file
that comes with MPLAB 3.31 No matter whether I try this thru MPLAB IDE or
if I do it directly with MPASMWIN, I still get the error "I/O Error: File
not Open" and the assembler refuses to precede, saying "Assembler Error".
The help doesn't even seem to list this error. The assembler gets this
error immediately when assembly starts, if just says "building symbol
table" and kicks the error while still at 0%. It IS looking for the source
file in the right directory.
Thanks for your help,

It's a bug in version 3.32.15. Microchip know about the problem and
have either fixed it already (the newest version is 3.32.18) or will
fix it later this week.
Try downloading the ".18" version and see if that fixes it.
