I would like to knwo if anyone has already implemented
the suite (or part of it) of the TCP/IP internet
protocols on a pic and would like
to share the project wit the piclisters community....

count me in - I'd be very interested.
The smallest stack I have come across is circa 20K bytes (I think).

I haven't but I'd like to know what can be squeezed in. My bet is, ICMP
only over UDP using a PPP type interface over serial link. Even so it will
be hard to leave room for an ant or two in the smaller PICs (without
external RAM/ROM).

I think that PPP can be done, but i don't if
it's worth to do it... my bet is UDP, ICMP, IP over
a SLIP link on a pic 16F84
running at 19200 bps... i'm sure it can be done..
TCP is far too complect to be implemented
on an 8 bit architecture with small memory
storage like a pic... it would be REALLY fine
to use some kind of bus instead of a point to point
interface like SLIP... it isn't easy
but it could be done... my problem
is that i've no time at all...
on a bus interface one could get in trouble
when some kind of broadcast messages are
posted on... or if a message is on the bus
while the pic is doing some other things...
also CSMA/CD is a big issue... with bit banging
it can be done easily.. i was also thinking about
adding an external ram/eeprom to store
incoming messages until they're parsed...
then the receive routine will be interrupt driven...
but a very full bus will not allow the pic to read the
stored messages without lossing some packets
..then you need a way to syncronize with the bus
.. in fact, it's not easy....
