I'm  trying to use a PIC 16C65 to control some devices on an IEEE488 bus
using an NEC upd7210 semi-intelligent controller.  I can't seem to be able
to get the NEC device to do anything (at all) - has anyone had any
experience with this sort of thing ???

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!!

Hi Rob
It has been years since I did an IE488 (Commodore Pet) to Baudot tty
printer interface. I do recall that a atn line and address is sent and the
balance of the transmission pretty much parallel out with handshake. Is
your controller set up with the right address? Enabled?  Sorry, this about
all I can remember, but there should be some info on the web. Good luck.

This one's a bit tricky, so I'd be grateful to anyone who could shed some
light on my problem!

I'm  trying to use a PIC 16C65 to control some devices on an IEEE488 bus
using an NEC upd7210 semi-intelligent controller.  I can send general
interface messages (DCL, LLO, etc), however I can't get the addressed
devices (having sent MLA) to stay in remote mode - ATN is staying true, but
I want it to go false to keep the devices in remote.  I think that it's got
something to do with the configuration of the address mode register, however
I'm not entirely sure what the config. should be.

thanks in advance to anyone who could help!

Rob,
I can't help you with your current problem offhand. However, I will be
working on an embedded GPIB controller soon. ComputerBoards makes a direct
replacement for your chip, the CB7210.2. You can call them for data sheets,
etc and they may be able to help solve your problem. The contact man is Bob
Vallee at (508) 261-1123. His email is KILLspambvalleeKILLspamspamcomputerboards.com.

Let me know how things work out.

Hope this helps,
