I'm looking for a 10 to 12 bit serial DAC to hang on a 16c74a.
The output should vary between 0 and 5 volts, require no external parts,
and be in an 8 pin DIP or SMT package (DIP preferred for now).  So far,
I've found the AD5320 and LTC1659 that look acceptable.  Any other ideas
out there?

Harold

Look at MAX517, 518, 519. Also the LT1257 but this I know will require two
resistors to get your required voltage range.

Hi Harold:
Try with the MAXIM portfolio of serial DACs (MAX512, MAX522, etc).
They have a good perfomance, are in 8 DIP & SOIC packages, unipolar or
bipolar power, cheaper, availables on Maxim Web Site http://www.maxim-ic.com
and 8 bit SPI-interface
