Anyone know if it's possible to put out a continuous 16 bit SPI word in
slave mode on a 16C7X?  I want to put out 2 consecutive bytes using the
SSPSR and SSPBuf registers without stopping between the two bytes.  I
have an external SPI clock.

I haven't tried it, but I'm sure it would put bytes out continuously as
long as you keep writing new bytes to SSPBUF before the shift register
finishes the last one.  Should work with either internal or external
clock.  A SPI port wouldn't be much good without this ability since extra
clock cycles would put the bytes out of order in  SPI receivers.
