Hi to all engineers.

I was playing with IR remote controllers using Charles Hoss's method
with PC sound card. It is perfect method to capture IR data. there are
a few thing I still do not understand. I heard that IR remotes are
running under
32 - 41 Khz.  I  measured signals directly from processor or base of
output
IR driver all I get is about 1 kHz signal also I tried measuring from IR
receiver
output  I am getting even lower then 1 Khz. Am I measuring wrong?

I am assuming that you are using a detector module (i.e. Radio Shack or
Sharp, etc..). These modules automatically demodulate the signal. So the
30-40KHz is removed and all that is left is the real signal which may be
around 1KHz. Note: most sound cards would never be able to sample a 30KHz
signal (the max sampling rate is ~44KHz which means you can only sample at
most a 22KHz signal).

If you are using just an IR LED then you should be getting the 32-40KHz.

well , I think the ir-soundcard is
enough for decoding the data .
but for the carrier frquency it's way
too slow -
you need a simple ir sensor (full basic
- no decoder) and a scope
