I've put this in [PIC] as I'm not really sure which topic it should be
in. Apologies if this is wrong.

I wonder if anybody can help me with this.

I have built an Easy Prog (on purchased PCB) and all is working well.

Can program target PIC's in the ZIF socket ok.

Hooked up my ICD cable and the target PIC programmed/verified ok, but at
the end of the cycle, the circuit won't run with the ICD cable attached.

Looking at the documentation, 'PIC_PROG.TXT', it looks like I can issue
a  -RUN Vdd instruction on the end of the command line, like this:

PIC_PROG -HEX C:\develop\Version2 -RUN 5

However, PIC_PROG throws the following error:
Firmware is type EasyProg version 12 by Embed Inc.
-RUN command line option is not supported by this programmer or its
firmware.

I'd hoped that this command would allow the MCLR to float high (there's
a 1K resistor and a diode on the test circuit to pull this pin high.

The target circuit is being powered by it's own +5v supply.

PIC pin 1 (MCLR) is at 1.85v with the ICD cable attached at the end of
the programming cycle.

Am I right in thinking that the PIC_PROG program should work with the
Easy Programmer as well as the professional one ?

Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong ?

Thanks,
Joe.

I guess that not supported means not supported. Maybe you can
try the latest firmware (version 14?).

Even though EasyProg and ProProg use the same host program, they
have different capability and different firmwares. For example,
ProProg supports 30F dsPICs but not EasyProg.

Xiaofan
