-IR stack controller targets low-power handheld
systems--
Microchip Technology Inc. will use the Embedded Systems
Conference (ESC) here to introduce a low-power infrared
protocol stack controller. The MCP2140 introduced this
week, along with Microchip's micro-power PIC16
microcontroller, is targeted at digital still cameras,
camcorders and pagers, according Keith Pazul, marketing
manager for Microchip's Analog and Interface Products
Division. Chandler, Ariz.-based Microchip said the
market for short-distance wireless communicators,
including PCs, mobile telephones and PDAs, will total
94.8 million units in 2003, growing to as much as 116
million units in 2005, according to industry estimates.

I'm signed up for the one in Austin TX already, but curious if there will be any other PIClisters coming to this (Austin) one.  There's a slim chance I may change to the one in Dallas, since I may have other things going on.

Cheers,
-Neil.

Though I mostly lurk, I'll be going to the one in Austin.  I'm curious to
see what they have to say.

I'll be attending next month in Asheville, NC.
Anyone else attending there that I should look for?

Here's a vote for Wallyworld CT. Well, it's not exactly a city. More like
about halfway up the upper end of Heinschweltz' Burbscale, about 0.7HB.

Meetya under the 'PICLIST' banner/placard/scribbled sign.

Have a :) day!
