Hey,

I like program an PIC17C766 and I have a PICStart Plus. But with
PICStart Plus I can't program it because it is in PLCC84 package. But I can
use an adapter (PLCC84 to DIP40) and it cost US$ 159,00 on Digikey.
I'm decided to assembly it yourself, but I haven't schematic form this
adapter. Could help me?

Thank's,

Try to compare the pinouts of each socket.
Then you can design the PCB yourself, if you know where each pin goes.
Made my point here ??

Is this a professional or a hobby project.  If professional, $160 is a
bargain compared to your time to wire is yourself and then wasting more time
trying to figure out why it's not working.

The price isn't so bad if you're going to be buying a proper ZIF PLCC
socket. I just bought one for a project, didn't think it was all that bad.

If you're going to be using a PLCC socket (which would only be good for a
small number of uses), there are about 26 wires used on the 40-pin header.

Hi Paulo,

Have a look at
www.rz.tu-ilmenau.de/~seeadler/electron/pic_adap/adapter.htm
It has a schematic and PCB layout for an adapter for a PIC17C57X +
PICStart Plus, but I have not checked to see if it is correct.

I think that it would program all of the PIC17CXXX's because I
assume it is wired the same as the Microchip adapter that does all
the PIC17CXXX's.

Simon
