DVD-RAM is still an evolving technology...
You might find yourself stuck with a drive
that can only R/W older 4.7G disk. Development
is on the way for higher capacity media.

And I don't think it can burn CD-Rs or CD-RWs,
which are almost 99% compatible with all newer
CD-ROM drives (look for the MultiRead logo).

I would suggest you go for a more mature media
as in CD-Rs/CD-RWs.

Around $500ish.  I'm thinking of that instead of
$300ish for
a good CD-RW.
