I just purchased a GPS unit from the guys above.
Then I was reminded that some GPS units will crash
around August 21.
Does anyone have information on this?

Most any manufactuer will have a FAQ on their WEB page for this. It is
caused by the fact that the week counter (on the satellites)will rollover from
week 1023 to 0 this Saturday/Sunday. Some GPS receivers will get
confused on their date/time calculations, most will recover after a while.

I have also purchased this unit, and have some questions.
is this working correctly after rollover?
What does it take to correct the problem?
Was removing all the electric power as suggested in another mail
worked?

I am planning to connect it to 16c84 and display the data on LCD.
Please advise.

Regards
Ajmal

I had one of the Mavin GPS units running last weekend and it did not
crash.  I had it connected to a computer which logged the position and
time to a disk file every minute.  I could not detect any problems.
Another unit that was powered up fresh out of the box today (i.e. after
the roll-over) worked fine as well.

I just hooked mine up to my PC today
it reports 18:00 hours at 12:00 PM
my time.(eastern, I'm in Maryland)
that's -6 GMT ...which is wrong...????

It also reports alignment #1 and
alignment #2 faults, is this due to the
fact that it is only picking up 2 or 3 usable satellites?
(due to the fact that the antenna is in my window sill :-)

thanks for any info... P.S.
It is one of the BGmicro units
I hooked it up through a max233 and
it works great.
except for the time thing and alignment errors.
(which are my fault :)
