'[OT] Text Search Software'

Someone on the list mentioned that they wish they had a method for
searching through their e-mail folders and locating messages based on
the contents.
I use a program called Text Search that is a freeware program.
Search for it using AltaVista or another search engine.
I point it at the folder where my mailbox files are stored, give
it a section of text to search for, and it finds it. There may
be programs specifically designed for searching e-mail, but
I find this program does a good job, and is general-purpose,
so I can use it for searching through my assembler files as well!

I just use Ctrl-F inside Eudora. Works great.

And Ctrl-Shift-F does the same thing in Netscape's email client
(although only one folder at a time).

Mac users could get "Retrieve It!" Very flexible, can search a whole ZIP
disk of archived messages very quickly and let you look at text without
opening the document.

Netscape can search all the folders in sequence if you select the base
root folder, as for example, CTRL+SHIFT+F and select "Local Mail", it
searches all mail files and folders.

Eudora does this for me as a built in function.
