Dammit Bob, why'd you have to tell us so early!? :) That's awesome
though, what gave you the idea?

Sweet! So pretty much the first 1000 people will get what they want
(assuming everyone will max out their order).

Did anyone get credits at sparkfun today? I managed to get logged in,
and took the loyalty reward of $50. My first order with them was
order ID 333. This current order was in the 300,000 range. Wow

I tried doing the quiz thing, but was never able to get it to load.
After about *many* attempts, the page partially loaded, and I was able
to click the the loyalty reward button. Only $20 bucks, but that's
better than nothing!

I also got my loyalty reward. I logged into the site about 15 minutes before the start time.
It took 20 minutes pressing F5 to collect my $40 reward.

Impressive! It took me about 2 hours! I should have logged in beforehand

I got $70 in quiz money (loyalty was option $20 from me) before the funds ran out. The first two questions took forever to load, then they started loading as fast as submitted. The total awarded shot up from ~$90k to $150k in a matter of minutes.
Just before that a SFE employee on IRC said that the IT dept was taking the servers offline and fixing a bug (during which time nothing loaded). Then as soon as the pages started to load again, it was as if the site was perfectly normal.
I'm very interested in learning what this miraculous bug fix was. Almost as excited as I am for my free BusPirate and Arduino Uno :) Haven't jumped on the Arduino bandwagon yet but the price was certainly right…

Originally I was a little disppointed but I have definitely gotten use
out of my Bus Pirate for testing new I2C chips. It is a little clunky
but does the job and the "scan bus for I2C addresses" feature is really
handy.
Friendly regards,
Bob

i2c/spi is exactly why I've wanted a BusPirate as I usually end up in a loop of questioning my code, then the circuit, then the code, then imagining that the datasheet is completely wrong, etc… until finally getting it to work.
Eliminating some of those variables in just one project would be worth the $30.

I got on and collected my $20 loyalty reward. I have an invoice from
2004, but they were basing their rewards off their new order system
which was put in place around 2006. This was back when it was still a
PO box, and Nate was running it out of his apartment.
The IRC chat was entertaining, and it was fun to see the IT crew
dancing around a bit as they realized they made a boneheaded mistake
in a line of code. They haven't yet divulged what the mistake was,
though...
But yeah. It took two hours to burn through 90k, then just a few
minutes to take care of the next 60k, so I'm very interested to know
what the problem was that they cleared away.
