'[OT] Bidirectional Parallel Port'

face picon face
I'm sorry for asking a question which I know has been asked before but I
can't seem to find any way to search the piclist archive nor can I seem to
find this information by an AltaVista search.

Does anyone know where to get info on both the hardware and software
aspects of the Birdirectional PC Parallel port? I am also interested in
this info for the ECP and (the other standard, I can't remember the
mnemonic for it).

BTW It does involve a PIC, it is for the PIC Digital Storage Scope, I just
added OT just in case.

Thanks a lot,

Sean

ECP is officially termed IEEE1284.  The IEEE standard is only available
in paper form and costs money, but the best place to get free info is at
http://www.fapo.com/ieee1284.htm

For 'the other standard' do you mean EPP?  I think this is included in
the IEEE1284 spec.

For general parallel port stuff, look in the alt.comp.hardware.homebuilt
FAQ
(ftp://rtfm.mit.edu/pub/usenet-by-hierarchy/alt/comp/hardware/homebuilt/)
for lots of links.
