Hi everyone,

I am planing to build a robot at home and I heard that some semiconductor
company out there offers "free samples" of their products.  Is that right?
Could you tell me which one?  What kind of stuff do they give away?

Thank you in advance
Tom

Most manufacturers give out free samples of most of their products, however
the intent is for evaluation, if you need small amounts I recommend you
purchase from regular sources (ie. digikey, mouser, etc.). TTYL

If you get some sort of school sponsorship, a lot of manufacturers will
send samples to help for a "school project" as well.  Especially if you
can get (for instance) a teacher or prof to ask for you...

What bits do you need? Email me off-list with
the details and I might be able to help with
some of it.

Maxim do seem to pretty free and easy about giving out samples of all but their
most expensive devices. Go to their web site and fill in the request, and the
devices will arrive a week or two later, sometimes a little longer for things
that are on long order times.

Crystal Semi also is pretty good, I have one of their Ethernet chips they
sampled with zero hassle.  You can request samples from their web site.
