'[OT]: Career Outlook for Computer Programmers in E'

Hi,

I got my Master's degree in EE 8 years ago and self-taught myself computer
programming. All these years, I work as a computer programmer writing
Windows applications in C++. The applications I wrote are EE related. I also
spend significant amount of time writing C code for Microchip processors. So
I would consider my self a computer programmer who have background in EE.
But in both fields (software and EE) I have not kept up-to-date with the
latest technologies.

I am think about looking for a new job and prossibly relocating to a new
area. But I need to decide what kind of job I will be looking, whether in a
"pure" software field, or a more EE related field. Then I will need to
update my knowledge of that field.

I want to ask this list:

1. What's the career outlook for computer programmers writing EE related
applications? (Demand, pay, etc...)

2. Is it better than "pure" computer programmers writing applications on
other fields?

Thank you!

Tony

Location, location, location?

As for EE vs "pure" sw, we're probably going to be a wee bit biased here...
