Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if someone experienced with Cadsoft's Eagle Layout Editor
could tell me how I can place a LABEL ">NAME" or ">VALUE" field into a
schematic symbol?

Thanks ahead of time,

Linda Chen : )

You just do it.  I'm not sure what you're asking.  Place them like any other
strings.  The only difference is that they will be substituted for the part
name or value by Eagle, but the method of creating the string is the same as
for any other string.

The >NAME field should be on the "tNames" layer and >VALUE on the "tValues"
layer.  I suggest you switch the font to FIXED and use either 0.07" or
0.056" for the text size (convert to mm as necessary).  Use a text ratio
between 8 and 12% for schematics.  When you create the layout symbol you may
need to alter the size and ratio to keep the line width above 6 to 8 mil,
generally the lower limit for silkscreening.

Refer to the tutorial for more details on text fields and layer uses.
