An older client is updating some displays on
a 20x4 LCD display, and wants to do the work
on Windows first.

Does anybody know of a Windows Font set
that will imitate these old displays?

In my mind, I remember that DOS EGA screens
were sometimes 5x10, so there were font sets
for it under Windows 3.1.

Anybody remember that far back? anybody else
that OLD on this list?

You might want to look at fonts like "dot matrix", or "system font".

If you look at the output of a dot matrix EPSON-type printer, you should
have a reasonably good starting point.

This is at top of the list, CGA goes back before EGA.

My Linux box has a bunch of tiny bitmapped fonts.  Even if you don't
do Linux, you could probably find the fonts on the Internet.

On a slightly-related note, you can buy a bunch of tiny bitmap fonts
from http://minifonts.com.  Some of those look really nice.  They
could give a (graphical) LCD project a bit of style.

Using the magic search terms, true type font +lcd, google spit these out:

http://www.hp42s.com/fonts/fonts.html
http://www.del.net/users/boosh/files.htm
http://www.netfontes.com.br/en/fontes.php/categ_2.1.htm (several good
cadidates)

I don't know how old you think old is, but I'm old enough to have *fond*
memories of windows 3.1. Mostly because I also remember DOS 3.3. It never
ceases to amaze me how many of today's "computer experts" are lost on a
command line.
