Someone asked about a hand held serial terminal.  This maybe suitable
but you will have to use a USB-RS232 adapter, but the later version or
compatible is in my future shopping list:

http://www.dualcor.com/connectivity.php

It is a full version XP machine with a handheld form factor.

At Microsoft's area at the recent "Maker Faire", they were
showing off a whole set of "extremely mobile" computers in
about that formfactor, running full XP ...

It's not clear that a serial port is one of the things that
survived, though...

Why would anybody use a full version of XP to run a serial program ?!

http://www.linuxdevices.com/articles/AT8728350077.html

lists at least two dozen PDAs and palmtops with Linux. Even an iPAQ will
have a serial connection.

Agreed, for me it will provided extra bonuses of transporting all the
essential references, multimedia content, podcast and even IDE
environment to this machine.
