PUUF "No Gas" Lunch
News: the "No Gas" Dinner
Your standard potluck on August 27th after the service at the fellowship.
Organized by Al Lewis, supplied by James Newton.
The challenge: No additional gas or other fossil fuel can be used
to transport the food other than that used to bring the congregation to the
fellowship... In other words: Only backyard produce. Well... since we
are having a tough time of it, local farmers markets are ok too... Maybe
you can ride your bike? <grin> The important thing is that the
food not be trucked in from hundreds or thousands of miles away to a grocery
store in the opposite direction from the fellowship.

Cooks and Preparation:

Quiche: Baked at home, frozen then warmed during service by James
Newton (I'm a Quiche machine! 5 in the freezer already). I did cheat on the
shells, milk, and cheese: All from the regular store. But I rode my bike
to get them! That is 40 servings.

Tomato Soup:

Kathleen Moscato will make her "Kick butt" (and it was) soup during the service.

Salad:

the Wolfs: Avocados peeled and chopped for the salad

Kathleen and Al picked up greens at a local farmers market. The Mufsons brought
basil and tomatoes.

Fruit Salad:

Pat found grapes growing near his home and brought many bunches in.

Sally Caldwell has figs, which will go nicely on the side but probably not
in the fruit salad.

Al brought in much cantelope, grapes, watermellon and peaches from the Vista
farmers market.

Someone else brought in a fruit salad and I didn't catch who...

Juice: James Newton will bring a juicer and cut and juice any Oranges,
Lemons, etc... actually, I couldn't find mine and Al bought a nice electric
for the fellowship for $13 from the local Albertsons. I owe you Al.

Addison Wolfe juiced most of the oranges that Dorris brought in. We had 3
pitchers of fresh OJ. Very nice.

Someone dropped off Lemonaid and I didn't get her name. Ms. Kraus? Very good.

Eggs: Pat brought hard boiled eggs for anyone who wasn't too sure
about the rest.

Veg Salad: Cucumber, tomato and avacado salad was also served. Thanks
to Sally for the suggestion, the Mufsons for the heirloom tomatoes and the
Wolfes for the avacados.

Quacamole also showed up. Who brought that? It was great!

Summary:
A good time was had, good food was eaten with good friends, and very little
