Start with a "top level" digit:
then follow with lables for the most important members of each group to you.
Numbering from 1 makes 91 a code for very urgent and you can use 911 as life or death.
So most likely 11 is you. 12 your wife. 13 first born, and so on. 21 is home, 22 is work, 23... church? whatever... 31 is your car? 32 is your computer? 41 is now (see below for more), 51 is Going or Go, 52 is Get or Pick up, etc... 61 is dead thru injured thru ok thru born depending on the 9 level. e.g. 11-61-91 is I'm dead. (11-61-911 is I'm actually dying). 62 is mariage to divorce. Questions (8x) are, of course, who, what, why, where, when, how (much)
Date / time is just the digits of the date and time. Start with minutes, then add hours, days, to the left (just after the 4). E.g. 420 is 20 minutes after this hour. 41530 is 3:30 in the afternoon (I like 24 hour time, figure something else out if you don't) today, 425-- is anytime on the 25th of this month. 4050110- is sometime around 10am on the first of June.
There is a "short form" that you can use if you like that depends on the order: e.g. I'm driving home is -11111. The leading - (dial a #) is the que that it's shorthand and then each following digit is actually the second digit of a code that counts by ten for each one. The long form is 11-21-31-41-51, "Me - Home - Car - One Minute - Moving" and you can switch back and forth. e.g. -21412-91 might be "Honey, don't forget to bring home more beer!" Use 0 to skip an item or indicate that it isn't important: -01402 "Will anyone ever bring home some beer?"

Set up personal codes for a constant reference to the personal ID code numbers of people who will be paging you.
When paging someone with your pager codes, it is very important to always punch in your code first. This will notify the person you are paging who the message is from.
It is recommended that you write down your message followed by the corresponding codes before calling the pager. Reason: some paging companies give a limited time to punch in your code, so there is not enough time to flip around trying to find the proper code you need from your pager codes.
The Star* key should always be used to separate each individual code. Example: 12*207*322*509* = 12-207-322-509
When entering a phone number, do not separate the numbers with the Star* key. This will make the phone number look like a code. Example: WRONG: 555-555-5555 /RIGHT: 5555555555
